Following the sequence of and correlated to the Belwin 21st Century Band Method, the exercises will reinforce and increase the technique, facility, and reading ability of beginning band students. All instrument parts are included in the book, so the teacher will only have to purchase quantities of books for the entire band and not worry about specific instrumentation. The rhythm exercises at the top of each page can be used for clapping and counting, played on a tuning note or the first note of the technique exercise, played as a chord with the teacher telling the students which notes each section should play, or used in many other ways. The technique exercises are in score form, so the students just need to pick the line for their particular instrument and perform the line in unison with the whole band, mixed instrument lessons, like instrument lessons, or even private lessons. There are no tempo markings so the teacher can have the students start at a slower tempo and increase speed to build up technique.
